Nika Šaravanja is a Croatian documentary filmmaker and visual artist. Before diving into the world of movies she did various things: from being a yoga and snowboard instructor, studying economics and curating a gallery in an old seaside town, to spending as much time as she could traveling and doing social work with various artists and NGO's. In 2014 she started studying at the Zelig School for Documentary and New Media in Bolzano, Italy. She graduated in 2016 in directing class with the award winning film “Dusk Chorus – Based on Fragments of Extinction“, her first feature documentary. Like this film, which had its premiere at the Visions du Reel festival in Nyon and is a story about human influence on nature, her subsequent work is based on themes of social impact and environment. She is currently living in between Vienna, Zagreb and the world and finishing her second feature documentary “Jump Out”.
