At a hospital in Switzerland, caregivers and medical staff question the way cancer is announced or how support is provided to patients through simulation workshops with actors.
The hospital world embodies the harshness of reality. At first glance, we don’t spontaneously associate it with fiction or play, but in Switzerland, these are used as part of the training for medical students and professionals to prepare them to handle situations where they will have to deliver bad news to patients and their families. Alexe Poukine films the workshops where medical staff test their empathy and where prejudices are deconstructed—prejudices that could undermine the accuracy of clinical analysis interpretation. Who Cares thus highlights the suffering of caregivers and medical staff subjected to the harshness of liberalism, while also questioning each individual’s responsibility within a "system of widespread mistreatment."
